Testing beings to help prepare Leeds Recycling and Energy Recovery Facility for waste from Leeds City Council
In preparation for accepting waste from Leeds City Council, operator Veolia will be carrying out a series of important testing procedures at the end of this month and during October. The tests - part of the commissioning phase - are standard practice in order to prepare the Leeds Recycling and Energy Recovery Facility to accept waste from Leeds City Council.
The procedures being carried out can create more steam than when the facility is fully operational and those nearby may hear more noise from the facility due to this process, though every effort is being made to minimise any disturbance to neighbours.
Please read the leaflet on the right for a more detailed explanation of this process.
Once completed in early 2016, the Recycling and Energy Recovery Facility (RERF) at Cross Green will become an impressive addition to the Leeds skyline.
The facility, run by Veolia on behalf of Leeds City Council, will have the capacity to deal with up to 214,000 tonnes of household waste which will generate enough electricity to power up to 20,000 homes.
